If you speak another language, love to sing or love to dance, bring that to the table. It will add joy and build competence to your work. It might be just what the family needs!
When my best friends were younger, (the kids that I nanny for) I would sing an African song when they cried. My mother taught me this old song which simply means to jump up and down. To my astonishment, they would stop immediately when they heard the melody! The funny thing was that I was singing it wrong the whole time! However, this resonated with their mom, and she was able to use the same technique:)
